MD Anderson Cancer Center/Smoke -N- Sear No. 8 Toyota Tundra

As Joe Nemechek and his SWM-NEMCO Motorsports team travel to the backyard of the SWM campus, they will once again give The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center a high-speed salute as they sport the MD Anderson logo on their No. 8 Toyota Tundra in this weekend's WinStar World Casino & Resort 400 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway. MD Anderson is working towards 'Making Cancer History' with their advanced medical treatments and research.

Sid Mauldin, owner of SWM Gun Runners located in Pampa, TX and partner in SWM-NEMCO Motorsports, is currently receiving treatment at MD Anderson located in Houston, TX. Carrying the logo gives him the opportunity to share his experience with the NASCAR community while showing support for the facility that has provided such impeccable care.

"We have an excellent opportunity to thank MD Anderson by highlighting them on the hood of our race truck this weekend and I want to further thank them for all of their wonderful care," Mauldin explained. "Dr. David Hong and his staff in the Targeted Therapy Department have gone above and beyond for me and I want everyone in the racing community to know there is an incredible resource in MD Anderson should they ever find themselves having to battle this horrible disease."

Nemechek and his SWM-NEMCO team will race a brand new truck in the WinStar World Casino & Resort 400 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. Relying on support from their Toyota racing family, the team looks for continued improvement as they enter their sixth event of the season.

"We're looking forward to heading to Texas this weekend where our co-owners, Sid and Dawna Mauldin, call home and have their business so we're really motivated to do well in their 'stomping grounds’,” said Joe Nemechek, driver of the #8 MD Anderson Cancer Center/Smoke -N- Sear Toyota Tundra.  “We're having a great time running the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and coming off the weekend we had with John Hunter at Dover last week, everyone on the team is excited and ready to go.”

Nemechek has a total of 42 NASCAR starts at Texas Motor Speedway but this will be his first in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He has one win at TMS - in the NASCAR Nationwide (then Busch Grand National) Series race on March 29, 2003

“I've always enjoyed running at Texas and we have a win and a few top-five finishes there so it'll be exciting to race it for the first time in a truck. Racing is definitely a momentum sport and we're gaining on it every weekend. Not just in finishes, but in knowledge and confidence,” added Nemechek.  “Hopefully we can continue to get the word out about the great folks at MD Anderson and give them a solid run and good finish Friday night."

Nemechek is sharing the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule with his 16-year old son, John Hunter, who finished a career-best sixth at Dover International Speedway this past weekend.  It was the younger Nemechek's first time racing on the track in Dover and only fourth career start in the series.  John Hunter Nemechek leads the "friendly family challenge" with his best finish being the sixth at Dover, to his father's eighth at Daytona. The team sits seventh in the NCWTS owner's standings - a mere nine points out of second.

Next week, John Hunter Nemechek returns to the seat of the No. 8 Toyota Tundra for the Drivin' for Linemen 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL. At age 16, Nemechek is limited to tracks of 1.25 miles or less.
